Armadillos are armored animals. There are several species, from the pink fairy armadillo, which weighs about 3 ounces, to the giant armadillo, weighing up 130 pounds.

Armadillos live mainly in South America, but only the Nine-Banded Armadillo also lives in North America. When danger threatens, an armadillo will roll up into a ball. Despite its appearance, an armadillo can run pretty fast, and it's a very good swimmer, and it also can dig a deep burrow where it's cozy, warm, and safe from danger.
