Aunt Grizelda is a short and very heavyset lady. She is extremely obese and overweight, boasting a particularly large rear end. Grizelda also supposedly smells quite unpleasant. She has curly ginger hair, brown eyes, pink skin, and wears a lavender purple jacket with a furry collar and matching shoes, throw, and feather-topped bowler hat.
She is shown to be rather lazy, gluttonous, greedy, mean, obnoxious, argumentative, opprobrious, hateful, frustrated, confrontational, vituperative, defamatory, uncaring, bossy, serious, rude, cruel, cunning, deceitful, and intimidating, as she growls a lot in her deep, gravelly, masculine voice.
She arrives in the flashback in The Lorax (film), along with the rest of the Once-ler's Family. The Lorax didn't like her fox stole and she called him a giant furry peanut, upon which he tried to fight her but the Once-ler stopped him and said "You wouldn't hit a woman?". The Lorax was surprised that Aunt Grizelda was a woman, most likely due to her weight and deep voice. Later, when the family was cutting down the trees, the Lorax wanted to talk to the Once-ler, but Aunt Grizelda picked him up, shouted "Have a nice day!" and flung him away. She also appears in the song How Bad Can I Be? shaking her massive, plump bottom with a large golden dollar sign on it. It is unknown where she is now, but she is probably either deceased or very old (based on the Once-ler's age).
- It is very possible that she was named after the Monkees song "Your Auntie Grizelda" which can be listened to here: youtube.com/watch?v=odijrMX1ViA
- Aunt Grizelda, and the rest of the Once-ler's family, somewhat reflect the seven-deadly sins. They are all very greedy, yearning for more and more money. Grizelda specifically though, is quite lazy, rude, and cruel. It is also presumed by her looks that she is very gluttonous.
