The brown bear is a very big and brown animal found in "The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That".

Brown bears are the second-largest bear of all. Only polar bears are larger. Brown bears are also, well, brown, and they can weigh up to 800 pounds.

The brown bear is a solitary animal, unless a female (sow) has cubs. During food abundances, such as salmon spawning in a stream, groups of brown bears will gather around and grab some. But like most bears, they also eat small mammals, fruits, berries, seeds, insects, birds' eggs, and roots. The competitors of the North American grizzly bear are coyotes, gray wolves, American black bears, and pumas. But a bear standing up on its hind legs and roaring can look really scary to predators.
