Ralph Bakshi is an Israeli-born American animator and filmmaker, he is known for his work on the 1960s animated version of Spider-Man, The Mighty Heroes for Terrytoons, and his innovative animated films aimed at adults such as Frtiz the Cat, Heavy Traffic, and American Pop, many of which have political and social messages in them. He directed the 1989 animated version of The Butter Battle Book for Turner Entertainment. Bakshi has expressed his strong distaste in kid-friendly projects, including the Dr. Seuss special he worked on.
