The Grinch is a 2000 platform video game loosely based on the film How the Grinch Stole Christmas released for the Sony PlayStation, Sega Dreamcast, and PC. Developed by Artificial Mind & Movement and published by Konami, the game was released in North America one week prior to the film's theatrical release—November 10, 2000. George Lowe does uncredited work as the narrator of the game. The Game Boy Color version was released that same month, which was ported for a release in Japan on November 22, 2000.

Gameplay[]

As the Grinch, the player can jump, ground pound, and use his smelly breath to guide his way through various obstacles in the game. As the game progresses different gadgets are unlocked which are used to complete different tasks. Various characters from the book and film appear as well, usually as an obstacle for the Grinch to bypass.

Plot[]

The Grinch stares down at Whoville through his telescope from Mount Crumpit, planning to take the Whos' presents using his gadgets. He goes in his cave, and looks through his blueprints deciding which gadget to make first. However, the Grinch accidentally falls off his mountain of boxes and his blueprints fly away down to Whoville and various parts of Wholand. The Grinch visits Whoville, the Whoforest, Whoville Municipal Dump, and Wholake, destroying Christmas presents, playing pranks on the Whos and recovering pieces of his blueprints in the process so he can steal Christmas.

The Rotten Egg Launcher's a brilliant invention, as the smell that it brings causes more than just tension. Once an eggshell breaks open and vile fumes escape, Who-eyes glaze over and Who-mouths can only gape. When the Grinch needs to hassle the Whos from afar, he turns to his launcher with a hardy-har-har! Few things irk him more than Whos equipped to resist the daze and confusion brought on by rotten mist.

Binoculars[]

Binoculars help the green mean one peer closer, at a Who-family, Who-teacher, Who-postman, Who-grocer. As well as a better look, he has improved aim. He hits targets more often, he's improved his game! He uses binoculars any time or place, he needs a closeup but wants to avoid a chase.

Rocket Spring[]

The Grinch can propel himself high into who air, by using the Rocket Spring to bounce him up there. In order to get the jump action he desires, the Grinch must give the coil all the rank eggs it requires.

Slime Shooter[]

Once the Grinch has entered into his super computer the specs for his dearly loved trusty Slime Shooter, he's able to neutralize all his Who-foes. Because they are stuck to themselves in their slimed clothes.

Octopus Climbing Device[]

The Octopus Climbing Device takes the medal. It lets the Grinch climb walls with the tap of a pedal. He first must be sure the surface is plain and flat, not common in Who-Ville where all is elaborate.

Marine Mobile[]

The Marine Mobile is the Grinch's personal submarine that allows him to explore the bottom of Who-Lake.

Grinch Copter[]

The Grinch Copter lets the mean one fly like a bird. But it needs so many eggs, it's almost absurd! The Grinch should be clever, keep its use of it sparce, else his quest to halt Christmas will become an egg farce. Altitude and weather affect the copter's ride. Who knew there was science in ending Yuletide?
