As I state on my userpage, I like combining Seuss characters and Bethesda Softworks games. Here, I'm gonna ramble about the long-running cross-over (of sorts) fanfiction I have with Seuss and Fallout, or Seussout.
The story takes place over the course of Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, and Fallout 4 though no one is The Lone Wanderer, The Curior, or The Sole Survivor.
Like the Lone Wanderer, the Once-ler hails from Vault 101 in the Capital Wasteland. However, he doesn't directly know The Lone Wanderer (the protagonist of the game), but does work with his/her father and Jonah in the clinic. On the day in which TLW's dad and TLW escape, he escapes as well, stating that the only reason that he didn't die that day is because he woke up late.
In a blind panic after fleeing the Vault, he runs to the ruins below. It is here that he meets Nixie Knox. She comes from Rivet, a large city built on a battleship. She calls to him, he turns to her in terror, holding his .10mm pistol in shaking hands. She waves him off and says: "Kid, put the gun down. If I wanted you dead, there'd already be a crater where you're standing." She tells him that she'll take him under her wing and teach him how to survive since she can tell that he's from a Vault due to his Vaultsuit (a blue and yellow jumpsuit. This is also why she has a fondness for calling him "Jumpsuit" from time to time). She gives him a suit of leather armor in exchange for his Vaultsuit, stating that "A 101's never came through my folks' shop. I bet I can get top caps for this." She then explains how things work in that world for him, since he's lived his entire life underground in a city-sized fallout shelter. For a while, they travel together before she realizes that he doesn't need her anymore, and she'd rather go off and do her own thing rather than help him help the BoS and (unknowingly, TLW and TLW's father) rebuild Project Purity. He then meets a man named Werner who enlists his help freeing slaves at "The Pitt". This is where he is face with his first major dilemma: Should people have to work hard now so that their children and grandchildren can live safely, or should they be set free. In the end, he decides to side with Ashur, deciding that this what's best for the people in the long run.
After this, seeking to redeem himself, he travels to Point Lookout to find a missing girl for her parents. After being drugged, having his head shaved, and part of his brain removed, he fights the cult directly, kills the plant they worship like a god, kills the ship captain who cut out part of his brain, and frees Nadine (the girl). She becomes the new ship captain and takes him back to DC.
After this, The Once-ler heads out west (Fallout: New Vegas), finally arriving in Nevada. After witnessing the cruelty of Caeser's Legion, he decides to aid the New California Republic. While he never eclipses the movements of The Curior directly, he gets the Brotherhood of Steel and the Followers of the Apocalypse. This, along with The Curior recruiting The Remnant, The Great Khans, and The Boomers to the NCR's cause, they fight against the Legion in the battle for Hoover Dam. As he's done this, he's befriended a young Brotherhood of Steel Knight by the name of Sam-I-Am from the Hidden Valley Bunker Complex outside of Las Vegas--a member of the Mojave chapter under the leadership of Elder McNamara. The young man gets The Once-ler to let him go along with him on an adventure. During this, they find an abandoned BoS bunker with a mysertious radio playing a haunting tune. Investigating it, they are flash-banged and knocked out. A man named Elija--the former Elder of the Mojave chapter of the BoS and a traitor--recognizes young Sam's holotag (it had come out from his shirt from the explosion) and leaves him, but takes Once-ler with him. The Once-ler wakes up to find himself inside of an abandoned resort dominated by a huge casino in the distance. He has a bomb collar around his neck. Here, he learns that he must aid Elija in breaking into the casino and stealing all the money from its vault. Though he does this with the aide of a Ghoul, a Super Mutant, and a mute woman who is a former BoS member, he opts to lock Elija inside of the vault and they escape while the entire place starts to crumble around them--initiating its self-destruct sequence.
After this, he and Sam walk to the Commonwealth (Boston, and the surrounding area in MA). After exploring for a while, they meet a man slightly older than The Once-ler with golden, curly hair and a moustache. His name is Sylvester and he is a member of the Railroad. It is through him that they learn of an organization called The Institute that creates super advanced androids--Synths--and uses them to their own ends. The Railroad sees this as slavery and wishes to free the Synths from their opression. He joins with them as he is very, very skilled in the stealthy arts and is a master sniper (Sylvester was a Raider before joining the Railroad, and is one of the few surviving Railroad members from "The Switchboard Incident". His code-name with them is "Ghost", due to his stealthy nature). Finally, in Diamond City (modern-day Fenway Park), he runs into Nixie again, who cheerfully greets him, happy to see "Jumpsuit" again.
This forms their little cadre and they travel about, helping people in need and exploring in general.
This is where my story takes a major shift away from the events of the game. Due to Sylvester being a high-ranking member in the Railroad and Sam being a BoS Knight in good standing and with high honours, Once-ler is able to get the two of them to get Desdemona of the Railroad and Elder Maxon of the BoS to reach a truce agreement. From this, The BoS, The Railroad, and The Minutemen (under the leadership of The Sole Survivor) to come together to defeat The Institute and bring some level of peace and safety to The Commonwealth. It remains to be seen what awaits them in Far Harbor and Nuka World.
Now, my meaningless rant is done. Move along. Nothing more to see. :P
